Seifert scored an unbeaten 97 in the fifth T20I in Wellington

It was a Tim Seifert show at the Wellington stadium on Wednesday as the Kiwis thumped Pakistan by 8 wickets chasing 129 for victory. Seifert finished unbeaten on 97 as New Zealand chased the score down inside 10 overs.

It was one of the fastest chases by New Zealand against Pakistan in T20I cricket courtesy of Seifert's brilliance. He batted at a strike rate of 255 as he hit 10 sixes and six fours.

Seifert finished the match in the final delivery of the 10th over by smacking Shadab Khan for a six, over long on. It capped off a dominant performance from the Kiwis in the series overall.

Tim Seifert Finished With Unbeaten 97 Runs

Pakistan with the bat scored a below-par 128/9 after a good effort from the Kiwi bowlers. Jimmy Neesham picked up five wickets after the Men in Green lost four wickets inside the first 8 overs. It was a cumulative effort from the Kiwi bowlers. The pacers started the job then Ish Sodhi played his part in the process and Pakistan were bowled out by Neesham.

With the bat, then it was Tim Seifert who owned the Wellington Stadium. He plundered the Pakistan bowling attack to no end and finished off the chase inside 10 overs. Seifert added a 93-run stand with Fin Allen (27 off 12). Once the partnership was broken, Seifert took matters into his own hands and made the Pakistan bowlers pay.

Thus it was the Kiwis who reigned supreme in the match. Neesham first did the job with the ball, and then there was no stopping Tim Seifert with the bat. Neesham was named the Player Of The Match for his figures of 5/22. Seifert was named the Player Of The Series for his batting heroics.

Seifert also spoke to the broadcasters after the match about his innings and said that he was happy with the effort. He scored 249 runs in the series with his best of 97 coming in this match.

"After a niggle in the hip, I thought there is only one way to play. Wickets were very bouncy, to be able to adapt...makes me very proud. It's just that you are backing yourself, your skills. Finn is great mate; it's great fun out there with him. Couple of weeks with the family and then off to PSL" said Seifert.
