New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson is doubtful for the Champions Trophy and the Tri-Series against Pakistan and South Africa after he injured his hamstring in the Qualifier 1 clash in Dubai on February 5.
Ferguson pulled up his hamstring during the Qualifier 1 clash. He did not even complete his quota of overs. Ferguson did not bowl the last ball of the match. Vipers needed to defend one run off the last ball and Mohammad Amir took the ball. A boundary off the last ball ensured Vipers play the Qualifier 2.
Ferguson's injury also means that he is unlikely to play in the ILT20 final as well on Saturday. The pacer in hs post-match comments played down any injury concerns saying that it was an unfortunate injury issue.
"Just a little hamstring issue, unfortunate. Tough night; wish I could've bowled the last ball" the pacer said.

NZ Coach Gary Stead Gives Update On Injured Lockie Ferguson
Meanwhile, New Zealand head coach Gary Stead is awaiting the results of his scans keeping all possibilities open.
"Lockie had a scan yesterday [Thursday] in the UAE. We've got the images here and [we are] waiting for our radiologist to give us a report on the extent of it. Small hamstring injury, by the look of it, so we're just waiting on a timeline of advice around that before we make a decision on whether Lockie travels here [Pakistan] or whether we do have to replace him for the Champions Trophy" Stead said ahead of the tri-series opener against hosts Pakistan
In Ferguson's absence, Sam Curran led the Desert Vipers in the Qualifier 2 clash against the Sharjah Warriors and the Vipers won the match by seven wickets chasing 163 to win.
A statement came from the Desert Vipers Director Of Cricket To Moody who said that they are trying to manage the workoad of the pacers with the Champions Trophy around.
"We have tried to manage the players with rotation of quicks as much as we possibly can. Lockie Ferguson, Mohammad Amir and Luke Wood, today, have all had a chance to rest and freshen up. But yes, it is a pretty tough schedule and there is an element of physical fatigue but probably, more importantly, mental fatigue. Â Everyone is trying to fit in a tournament within a certain window. And what comes of that is a pretty heavy schedule" Moody said in the Vipers Voices podcast in January.
