Jasprit Bumrah was the only shining light in an otherwise disappointing campaign for India in the five-match Test series against Australia. He almost single-handedly kept the Men in Blue in the series till the fifth and final Test in Sydney.
In December 2024 alone Bumrah took 22 wickets at an average of 4.22 at the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He ended the series with 32 wickets and was named the Player Of The Series for his bowling feat. Bumrah took three fifers and two four-fers in his tally of wickets.
Bumrah who led India in Perth and Sydney took nine wickets in the Test matches in Melbourne and Brisbane. Interestingly, he also scored the most runs by an Indian captain in the series when he scored 22 off 17 balls in the fifth and final Test in Sydney.

Jasprit Bumrah Took 32 Wickets In Border-Gavaskar Trophy
Jasprit Bumrah was disappointed after India lost the fifth and final Test in Sydney. A back injury prevented him from bowling on the morning of the third day in Sydney with Australia needing 162 to win.
"Little frustrating but sometimes you have to respect your body, you can’t fight your body. Disappointing, probably missed out on the spiciest wicket of the series. Felt a bit of discomfort during my second spell in the first innings" he said in the post-match presentation.
Australian skipper Pat Cummins was the next-best wicket-taker in the series with 25 wickets at an average of 21.36. He also scored some crucial runs with the bat as well for his side. Cummins contributed with the bat and scored 49 and 41 in Melbourne. He also picked up 6 wickets in the match, helping Australia secure an important win which helped them take the lead in the series. In three Test matches in December, Cummins took 17 wickets at an average of 17.64.
South African pacer Dane Paterson is the final name in this list. He took 13 wickets in two Tests at an average of 16.92 and helped the Proteas seal their WTC final berth. South Africa defeated Pakistan 2-0 in a Test series at home to advance to the WTC final for the very first time. They managed a narrow win in the first Test by two wickets and dominated Pakistan with a 10-wicket win in the second Test.
