Towhid Hridoy

Jaker Ali made the most of the reprieve he got on zero by Rohit Sharma in the ongoing Champions Trophy game against India. The wicketkeeper batter managed to score fifty and stabilized the innings along with Towhid Hridoy. The duo came to the crease inside the first power play when Bangladesh were placed 33 for the loss of five wickets. From there on, the two Bangladeshi batters negated India's trioka of spinners, Kuldeep Yadav Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja well to help give the team some hope.

The two Bangladeshi batters mixed caution with aggression and slowly got small team landmarks like the 50, 100, and 150. While the rate of run scoring was not great, Hridoy and Jaker at least ensured Bangladesh finished well with the bat in their opening CT fixture. At one point Bangladesh looked like they would not even cross 200, but this partnership has proven to be a game-changer for the side.

India bowlers failed to close the innings after a good power play

After having Bangladesh on the mat in the first power play, the India bowlers failed to close the innings well. Spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav failed to even pick one wicket among them. Worst, even the duo were not as economical in their spells as Axar Patel was. Hardik Pandya bowled only four overs, as the Jaker-Hridoy duo dealt with the all-rounder easily.
