Former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed was schooled on social media after he tried to speak out against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the wake of the recent match-fixing allegations against Rajasthan Royals (RR).
The franchise was targeted with allegations of match-fixing by Rajasthan Cricket Association's (RCA) ad-hoc committee convener Jaydeep Bihani.
Bihani alleged the franchise of losing two games deliberately against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025. RR needed to win nine runs off the final over in both games. They took the game to the Super Over against DC and eventually lost. Against LSG, Avesh Khan defended nine runs to deny the Royals a win.

Rajasthan Royals Issue Formal Letter To RCA In Response To Match-Fixing Allegations
Meanwhile, the IPL franchise strongly resented the accusations. RR responded strongly to the accusations made by RCA with a formal letter. In the same letter, the Royals clarified that the comments from the RCA might have come on the back of their limited ticket sales for home matches.
According to a report in the Times of India, the RCA might have gotten fewer tickets for home games in IPL 2025 than they would normally get. The franchise is now guessing that this is a form of retaliation by the state board. The Royals usually give the RCA around 1800 tickets for home games. However, this year, the number is considerably low, ranging somewhere between 1000 and 1200 tickets.

Seeing this as an opportunity, Tanvir Ahmed, the former Pakistani cricketer, took a dig at the BCCI and accused the IPL franchises of fixing matches.
"BCCI bolta ha humari IPL duniya ke sab say bari league ha, han woh tou ha lekin fixing bhi sab say bari hote ha ziyada tar tou teams fixers kay pass hain (BCCI says that IPL is the biggest league in the world. Yes, that is true, but the fixing in it is also the biggest. Most teams belong to fixers)," Tanvir wrote on X.
However, the move by Tanvir backfired on social media as he was brutally trolled by users on X. The seemingly knowledgeable public defended the BCCI against Tanvir's false allegations and schooled him in the process.
Meanwhile, amid the recent match-fixing allegations, Rajasthan Royals will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday, April 24.
