Shreyas Iyer finished as the second-highest run-getter in the ICC Champions Trophy with 243 runs at an average of 48.60. He played a crucial knock of 48 runs off 62 deliveries in the run-chase.

Iyer seems to be batting like a dream and living the time of his life with this Indian cricket team. Since 2024, he has won the IPL title as captain with KKR and all three domestic titles with Mumbai - The Ranji Trophy, the Irani Cup and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Even Rohit Sharma hailed Shreyas Iyer for his contribution to the Indian team during the Champions Trophy calling him the silent hero of the team. However, speaking to Times Of India, Shreyas said that the last few months have been very fulfilling for him, and his hard work has finally started to pay off. He also revealed that he had reassessed where he was going wrong, and once he had started working on it, results started to show.

"Extremely satisfying. To be honest, it has been a journey, and I have learnt a lot in this phase of my life, where I got out of the contract after playing the 2023 ODI World Cup. I reassessed where I went wrong, what I should be doing, how well I need to focus on my fitness. I asked myself all these questions, prepared a routine, and started focussing on my training and the skills I added side by side," Shreyas Iyer told Times of India.

Its All Bout Getting Respect - Shreyas Iyer Makes Massive Commenty After Leaving KKR

Speaking about his stint with KKR, Iyer said despite all his efforts for the team, his contribution for the team went unnoticed and did not get the recognition it deserved. Speaking further with TOI, Iyer spoke about not getting enough recognition after leading KKR to victory last year. The franchise also parted ways with Iyer before the IPL 2025 mega auction.

"When I talk about recognition, it's about getting that respect. It was about the respect for whatever efforts I put on the field. I think sometimes it gets unnoticed but extremely satisfied with the efforts I put in because they weren't easy wickets to bat on," said Shreyas Iyer.

After KKR released Iyer, he was picked up by Punjab Kings for a whopping 26.75 crores and was also named the captain of the side. He is heading into IPL 2025 with good batting form and he will hope to keep his form going for the Kings. PBKS kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on March 25.
