Narine CSK vs KKR

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans were stunned as their team could not even post a par score in their allotted 20 overs at their home ground at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chepauk against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in match 25 of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. Harshit Rana bowled a terrific spell in the middle phase of the innings, conceding just 16 runs and picking up two wickets in his four overs. Rana was well supported by Sunil Narine, who chipped in with three wickets. CSK eventually posted just 103 - their lowest ever total in Chepauk.

Electing to field first, KKR new-ball bowlers Vaibhav Arora and Moeen Ali made life miserable for CSK openers as Devon Conway (12), and Rachin Ravindra (4) found the going tough. The power play yielded just 31 runs, from which CSK just could not recover. No CSK batter could score more than a strike rate of 140 and that tells you how miserable and intent less the Men in Yellow were. Shivam Dube top scored for CSK with 29-ball 31 runs.

The turning point was Vijay Shankar was given two lives by KKR fielders on 0 & 20 off the bowling of Rana. However, Shankar could not make the most of the dropped chances as KKR bowlers were simply relentless with their line and length. Ajinkya Rahane's leadership stood out as he deliberately kept overs of Narine and Chakaravarthy against CSK skipper MS Dhoni. The move paid off as the wicketkeeper batter was dismissed for just (1) run in the 16th over.

Nobody anticipated CSK to bat miserably at their home turf. CSK batters showed zero intent and played into the hands of KKR bowlers. Narine and Varun Chakaravarathy perfectly exploited Chepauk's surface as they gave just 35 runs, picking five wickets in eight overs.
