"Jasprit Bumrah is on the borderline of a fracture" - Shane Bond's Big Warning for Team India

Jasprit Bumrah is all set to feature for Mumbai Indians (MI) in their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Earlier, he was cleared by BCCI's COE to participate in the remainder of the season for Mumbai Indians. MI takes on RCB on Monday, April 7, at the Wankhede Stadium.

Bumrah's return is a timely boost for MI, who are currently placed eighth on the points table. So far the Mumbai Indians have won just one out of their four games. Their win came at KKR in their first home game.

Mahela Jayawardene Confirms Jasprit Bumrah's Availability vs RCB

MI head coach Mahela Jayawardene confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah will be available for selection for Mumbai's match against RCB on Monday. It is a crucial match for both teams. RCB lost their previous match against GT, which brought them down to the third position on the IPL 2025 points table.

"He is available. He is training today, so he should be available tomorrow." The MI coach went on to further address the point. "He arrived last night (Saturday, April 5). And I believe he had his sessions with NCA to finalise that. He has been handed over to our physios. So, yeah, it should be his bowling today. All good and he will play tomorrow" Jayawardene said ahead of their match against RCB.

After joining the MI squad on Sunday evening, Bumrah had a good look at the wicket. He then bowled to Rohit Sharma at the nets, who is himself nursing an injury. Rohit's availability for this match will be known before the toss. He took a blow on his knees during training before their match against LSG and was ruled out of the game.

Jayawardene is happy with Bumrah's comeback and the experience that he will be bringing with him to this pace attack. Along with Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah formed a deadly combination during MI's heyday. The two experienced pacers will look to bring back the same combination going forward.

"Boom (Bumrah) is coming back from a pretty decent layoff. So, we need to give him that space and not expect too much. But knowing Jasprit, he'll be up for it. And we're very happy to have him in the camp. The experience that he brings and that extra voice out there in the middle, chatting with Bolti (Trent Boult), chatting with Deepak (Chahar) or any other younger bowler, giving that advice is also very valuable for us. So, that's what we're looking forward to from him" added Jayawardene.

Bumrah has been out of competitive cricket since the fifth Test against Australia in Sydney in January 2025. He picked up a back injury and, after undergoing rehabilitation for more than two months, has finally now received the green signal from BCCI's COE medical team to make a comeback in the IPL. He missed the England white-ball series and the Champions Trophy in the meantime for the Indian team.
