IPL 2025 - Rahul Dravid Attends Rajasthan Royals' Training Camp on Crutches

Rahul Dravid, the newly appointed head coach of the Rajasthan Royals (RR), has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the team by attending their pre-season Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 training camp in Jaipur despite a recent leg injury.

Dravid, a figure synonymous with dedication and professionalism, sustained a left calf muscle injury while participating in a local league match for Vijaya Cricket Club.

The injury, which required Dravid to use crutches and wear a medical walking boot, did not deter him from fulfilling his coaching duties. He arrived at the Rajasthan Royals' training facility in a golf cart, showcasing his determination to be present and involved in the team's preparations for the upcoming IPL season.

In the video shared by Rajasthan Royals on social media, Dravid shook hands with players and actively engaged with Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal, offering them guidance.

RR issused a statement on Dravid’s injury on X, stating:

“Head Coach Rahul Dravid, who picked up an injury while playing Cricket in Bangalore, is recovering well and will join us today in Jaipur.”

How did Rahul Dravid get injured?

Dravid sustained a left calf muscle injury last week while playing in a Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) Group I, Division 2 semi-final match. The incident occurred during a game between Vijaya Cricket Club and Jayanagar Cricketers for the Sri Nassur Memorial Shield.

Dravid was batting alongside his 16-year-old son, Anvay, when he reportedly pulled a calf muscle just two deliveries into his innings. Despite experiencing visible discomfort, Dravid continued to bat, showcasing his trademark resilience.

He scored 43 runs off 66 balls, forming a crucial fourth-wicket partnership with his son. However, his efforts were not enough to secure victory.

Fresh from orchestrating India's T20 World Cup 2024 victory, a triumph that capped a transformative coaching tenure, Dravid now brings his strategic vision to the Rajasthan Royals.

He steps into the head coach role, forging a powerful leadership trio alongside captain Sanju Samson and director of cricket Kumar Sangakkara, aiming to win the trophy for the first time after the inaugural season.

Rajasthan Royals will began their campaign on March 23 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
