Nehal Wadhera on his knock against LSG

Punjab Kings middle-order batter Nehal Wadhera made an important contribution in his team's victory over Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday. He scored an unbeaten knock of 43 runs off 25 balls and, along with his skipper, Shreyas Iyer (52* runs off 30 balls), added an unbeaten stand of 67 runs, taking their team to a dominant victory.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) posted 171/7 batting first in their 20 overs, which was not enough for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) as they cruised to the target inside 17 overs. The win has helped them move up to the second position on the points table. RCB is leading the points table with 4 points and an NRR of +2.266. RCB, PBKS, and DC have four points each.

Kings have now won back-to-back games and, under new skipper Shreyas Iyer, have started on a very positive note compared to previous years. Wadhera also seamlessly adjusted himself with the team and did exactly what was needed of him.

Had Brought Only One Kit With Me- Nehal Wadhera

Speaking after the game, the PBKS hard-hitter said that he was not very sure whether he would play the game and thus brought just one kit with him.

"I didn’t feel much nerves but I didn’t know that I would be playing today so I had brought only one kit with me, later I got to know that I’m playing today," Wadhera said in the post-match presentation.

The Punjab Kings chase was shaped up by Prabhsimran Singh, who played a counter-attacking innings of 69 runs off 34 balls. He hit nine fours and three sixes and pummeled every bowler at the Ekana Stadium. They chased down the target in just 16.2 overs to rise to the second spot in the IPL 2025 points table. This was only the fourth time in 18 years of IPL that PBKS won their first two matches of the season.

The southpaw credited Shreyas Iyer for his unbeaten half-century and said that as a side, they needed this win.

"We needed this win as well, Shreyas bhai and all played really well, our bowlers bowled well and the way Prabhsimran batted was really good too," said Wadhera.

The Punjab Kings next take on the Rajasthan Royals on April 5 at Mullanpur in Chandigarh in their first home game.
