The India vs England T20I series kicks off with the first T20I in Kolkata on Wednesday, January 22. The last time both the teams played in a T20I match was the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024. India defeated England by 68 runs in the match.
England reached India on January 18 for the series. They then started intense traning session under head coach Brendon McCullum. The head coach in the pre-match press conference further said that Jos Buttler will not keep wickets in the series.

Engalnd named a strong 15-member squad for the series. Batting all-rounder Jacob Bethell is among the players to watch out for in the series. The likes of Buttler, Phil Salt and Liam Livingstone have a lot of experience of playing in Indian conditions.
The bowling attack also has a lot of firepower with Mark Wood and Jofra Archer part of the pace attack. Rehan Ahmed, Adil Rashid are the two specialist spinners. Saqib Mahmood and Brydon Carse add a lot more to the bowling attack as well.
The BCCI has named a very young Indian squad for the five-match series. Suryakumar Yadav continues to lead the side. The batting heavily rests on him alongside Tilak Varma, Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh and Sanju Samson. Samson is likely to open the innings alongside Abhishek.
All-rounders Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy add a lot of depth to the side with their batting and bowling abilities.
The bowling has gained a lot of muscle with the return of Mohammed Shami into the side. He trained hard with the rest of the Indian team at Eden Gardens on Sunday. Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana are the other two pacers with Varun Chakravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi the two spinners.
