In a strange sequence of events, Tollywood actress Swastika Mukherjee has accused a Swiggy delivery agent of stealing her match tickets of the India vs England first T20I at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

She narrated the entire story on her official Instagram account. She said that the tickets belonged to her manager Shristi Jain, who had come all the way from Kanpur to witness the match at Eden Gardens with her parents.

India delivered an outstanding performance in the match, winning the game by seven wickets. They bowled out Engalnd for 132 and chased the target down inside 13 overs with Abhishek Sharma scoring a blazing 79.

Meanwhile,  a few hours before the match, Swastika shared her complaints on Instagram with a ‘theft alert’. The tickets were picked up by a Swiggy Genie executive from New Town Action Area 2 on Tuesday. According to the Tollywood actress, the order was placed at 6.30 pm. While the partner never showed up it was marked delivered at 5:37 pm.

“It showed that the delivery partner was en route all along. After an hour, the delivery partner blocked me and my partner’s number and stopped taking calls from any numbers," Swastika wrote on Instagram.

She further shared their experience of not getting any support from the Swiggy customer care when they approached for help.

“It’s been more than 13 hours and Swiggy hasn’t helped in any way. Does Swiggy/other delivery platforms promote the stealing of parcels to safeguard their brand or their delivery executives?" Swastika asked.
“Those tickets were for my partner’s father who has never seen a live match in spite of being a huge fan of cricket. He has travelled all the way from Kanpur to witness a match at Eden Gardens. The tickets are gone and I’ve lost all hope to get them back," she added in her post.

Swastika's manager Shristi later said that Swiggy called them up to compensate for the loss of tickets with money or a dinner for her parents, but was unable to do anything about the delivery partner. The ECO Park police had finally managed to catch the accused.

Talking about the India vs England series, India are leading the series after their win at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. The next match will be played in Chennai on Saturday, January 25.
