Virat Kohli finally found some much-needed form in the third and final ODI against England in Ahmedabad. He notched up his 73rd ODI fifty and looked in complete control before Adil Rashid dismissed him.
Virat Kohli's form was a major concern heading into this ODI series. He did not score too many runs in the Test series against Australia. After his hundred at Perth, he could not score too many and ended with just 190 runs in the series.
He went back to playing domestic cricket as well and did not score too many runs there either. He was included in the ODI squad but missed the first ODI with a knee injury. He came back in the second and scored just five runs off eight balls in Cuttack. He needed runs heading into the third ODI and he scored some crucial runs as well. He scored his 73rd ODI fifty as he scored 52 off 55 balls with seven fours and a six. In the process, he added a 116-run stand with Shubman Gill who went onto score his seventh ODI century.
Virat Kohli Gets To 16000 Runs In Asia
During his knock in Ahmedabad, Kohli got to 16000 runs in Asia. He just became the fourth batsman overall in international cricket to get to the landmark. He got to the milestone in his 340th innings. Sachin Tendulkar got to the landmark in his 353rd innings, Kumar Sangakkara in his 360th innings and his fellow Sri Lankan teammate in his 401st innings.

Virat Kohli also joined an elite list of batters with most runs in Asia. He is currently fourth on the list with 16000 runs with Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara ahead of him. After Gill scored his hundred and Kohli scored 52, Shreyas Iyer also scored a sublime half-century scoring 78 off 64 deliveries. He hit eight fours and two sixes and looked in no trouble whatsoever. After Gill, he too looked good to get to his hundred. However, the wily Adil Rashid got him dismissed down the leg side. After the initial burst of runs from Kohli, Gill and Iyer, KL Rahul scored 40 off 29 balls to take India's score beyond 330. Hardik Pandya played a lovely cameo of 17 off nine deliveries.
For England, Adil Rashid was the most successful bowler in the match. He had figures of 4/64 as he picked up wickets of Kohli, Gill, Iyer and Hardik. KL Rahul was dismissed by Saqib Mahmood while Joe Root accounted for Pandya's wicket. The Indian team finally bowled out for 356 and England now need a record chase to save themselves from being whitewashed in the series.
