India made a roaring statement ahead of Champions Trophy 2025 by cleanly sweeping England 3-0 in the ODI series. While the series was already sealed in the Cuttack ODI, the Ahmedabad ODI confirmed India as the overwhelming favorites ahead of the CT Trophy. Shubman Gill starred for India with a sublime century, which enabled the team to triumph by 142 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
England skipper Jos Buttler, who opted to chase against India, must be repenting that decision as Gill (112), Kohli (52), and Shreyas (78) chipped in with vital contributions to propel India to 356 all-out. While Gill laid the foundation with a ton, Kohli and KL Rahul (40) getting back to form was the major tick for the Men in Blue. The duo looked at ease and showed yet again that form is temporary and class is permanent.

Meanwhile, for England, there is a lot to ponder as they were outbatted, and outbowled in the ODI series. In the third ODI, only Mark Wood (2 for 45), and Adil Rashid, (4 for 64), managed to put the brakes and chip in with regular wickets. England's batters also looked a bit out of sorts on a flat surface in Ahmedabad. Ahead of the Champions Trophy, Jos Buttler and Brendon McCullum have a lot of questions to be answered.
