Yashasvi Jaiswal 3rd ODI vs England

Southpaw Yashasvi Jaiswal was snubbed by former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar when he was asked to pick the team's playing XI for the third ODI in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.

India won the second ODI in Cuttack by four wickets to bag their seventh ODI series win against England in India. The win was designed by skipper Rohit Sharma who scored his 32nd ODI ton. His 119 off 90 balls helped India chase down the total with ease.

Rohit hit as many as seven sixes in his knock and looked the Hitman of old. Alongside him, Shubman Gill scored 60 and Shreyas Iyer 44 and Axar Patel 41. KL Rahul and Hardik Padya scored 10 each as Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs for India.

I Want To See The Same Team: Sanjay Bangar

Meanwhile, heading into the third ODI in Ahmedabad, Sanjay Bangar the former India batting coach chose his playing XI and decided to snub Yashasvi Jaiswal. The southpaw was dropped from the playing XI in Cuttack after he made his ODI debut in Nagpur.

"I don't think Yashasvi Jaiswal needs to play. If there's merit, you can play Arshdeep Singh, you can try Rishabh Pant. But, there's only one match left. KL Rahul has not had that many chances to play for long. Whenever he comes on to bat, there are only a few runs left. But his keeping has been good so you might just want to continue your trust in him" Bangar said on India Today.

He further added that Arshdeep might be the only change in the side since Shami has not looked comfortable with the ball across all phases.

"Arshdeep might just be played because Mohammad Shami has not had the similar sharpness with his bowling...I would want to see the same team, which has played so well so far, for another match," Bangar added.

Mohammed Shami picked up one wicket each in the first two ODIs against England. Meanwhile, Rahul's demotion in the batting-order has not worked in his favour as he scored two and 10 in the first two games. Axar Patel, on the other hand, made the most of his promotion at number five.

With Rohit Sharma hitting a sublime century in Cuttack, all the constant criticism on his form has been put to rest. With the Champions Trophy on the horizon, India will look to fine-tune their best XI, and Bangar’s call for stability could reflect the team’s long-term strategy heading into the marquee tournament.
