Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli played his part in India's title-winning campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He scored a century against Pakistan and a match-winning 84 against Australia in the semi-final. Kohli ended the tournament with 218 runs at an average of 54.50.
He and Rohit Sharma have now won the second Champions Trophy title for India, the second in more than a decade. Kohli lived the moment as his post-match celebrations showcased how happy he was with the team's success.
Virat Kohli scored just one off two balls but in the lead upto the final, he played crucial knocks against Pakistan and Australia when the team needed it from him the most. He also became the best outfielder in the Indian team at the moment having taken over 160 catches.

Virat Kohli Confident About India's Bright Future
Speaking after the game, Virat Kohli sounded very happy and confident about India's future for the next eight to 10 years. He said that the current crop of players will dominate international cricket for some time to come.
"When you leave, you want to leave the team in a better place, I feel we've a squad that's ready to take on the world for the next eight years," "Shubman [Gill] has been outstanding, Shreyas [Iyer] beautiful, KL [Rahul] has finished games, and Hardik [Pandya] has been superb with the bat," Kohli said to the broadcasters.
Meanwhile, both Kohli and Rohit quashed rumors of retirement after the game. Rohit in the press conference requested the reporters not to spread rumors of his retirement and also Kohli's. Going ahead, he went onto speak about the talent in the current Indian dressing room and the quality it possesses.
"There's so much talent in the dressing room. They're trying to take their game further and we [seniors] are just happy to be of help, sharing our experience and that's what makes this Indian team so strong" continued Kohli.
He further lauded his teammates for the maturity and the responsibility they have shown in the tournament. India have had a perfect mix of young talent and experience in their squad in the last two or three years, which has made them this formidable unit that has won 22 of their 23 ICC tournament games since the 2023 World Cup.
"These are the things you want to play for [titles], playing under pressure and putting your hand up. The whole team, everyone has put their hands up sometimes or other during the course of the tournament. “Everyone has put up impactful performances, we've been part of an amazing team, the amount of work we've done in the practice sessions, it feels great" Kohli concluded saying.
The former Indian skipper will be back in action for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2025
