Harbhajan Singh has responded to BCCI's diktat for players that was recently released by the board after India's below-par performance against Australia.
The set of guidelines were made to ensure certain timely changes that was the need of the hour for Indian cricket. Playing domestic cricket was made mandatory for every cricketer whether senior or junior and the thought was for the betterment of Indian cricket.
The BCCI also made one rule which was imposing restrictions on the presence of families and personal staff on tours and banning individual commercial endorsements during series. Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh has reacted to this rule by the BCCI and spoke in favour of the players families.
"What have the wives done?" You lost a series in Australia. It's okay. If you don't lose, how can you enjoy when you win. You lost to New Zealand. That's also fine. Two teams are playing. One will win, one will lose. Before that you lost to Sri Lanka. People are saying, there are no discussions on the losses. After winning the T20 World Cup, you have lost so many series. Rather than sorting things out, if it is getting worse, then the focus has gone haywire," Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube channel.

He further went onto question BCCI's rationale behind making this decision. Bhajji asked whether the players have lost the series due to the presence of their wives or because they did not play well enough in the series.
"Somebody is saying don't let wives come on tours. What have the wives done? When performance is not good you say, don't allow wives and children. Have we lost because of them? We win or lose because of what we do on the field. I think we should be focusing on our cricket. Team is in transition and it will take time."Â Harbhajan added.
The main though behind imposing the 10-point diktat was to foster  "discipline and unity" in the embattled national cricket team. After the series loss to India, the team looks rattled and the BCCI in their own way took matters in their own hands to set the script right.
Currently, all eyes are on the BCCI who will be announcing India's squad for the England ODI series and Champions Trophy 2025 on Saturday.
