Gautam Gambhir the India head coach is under pressure after India's Test series loss to Australia. New reports have escalated that he has reprimanded Morne Morkel the bowling coach in front of the entire team and support staff in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

At a time, when the India head coach is under pressure to prove a point, several startling revelations were made in the recent BCCI review meeting on Saturday. The revelations have not helped Gambhir's case in uplifting his image as the head coach.

As per a Times of India report, Mone Morkel was late to arrive in the ground for a scheduled practive session in Australia due to personal reasons. Gambhir did not take this lightly and reprimanded in front of the team and the players. Morkel was not his usual self during the rest of the series as he reserved himself.

“Gambhir is very strict about discipline. He reprimanded Morkel immediately at the ground. The board has been told that Morkel was a bit reserved during the rest of the tour. It is up to these two to sort it out to allow the team to function smoothly,” a BCCI source told TOI.

Team India Support Staff Also Under Pressure Along With Gautam Gambhir

Fielding coach Ryan ten Doeschate and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar is also under pressure to prove their credentials after the series loss to Australia. Former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar questioned their inputs to the struggling Indian batters in the series.

“Batting coach Abhishek Nayar is particularly under the scanner. Gambhir himself has been an accomplished batter. The board has asked the players if Nayar is bringing anything new to the table. Similarly, Doeschate’s role is being discussed. His lack of international experience and ability to contribute to enhancing an international cricketer’s performance is being questioned,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the BCCI will take a call on Gambhir's future based on India's performance in the Champions Trophy. Before that, Indis will play a white-ball series against England starting later this month
