Vidarbha are taking on Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy semi-final in Nagpur. Opting to bat first in this crucial encounter, Vidharba have got off to a solid start as in-form batter Dhruv Shorey (unbeaten 60) steadied things after the fall of the first two wickets in the opening session. The new ball always swings in Nagpur, and Royston Dias and Shardul Thakur did not give an inch to Vidharbha's opening duo - Atharva Taide and (4) and Shorey. While the latter saw the former and Parth Rekhade (23) depart early, Shorey made sure there were no further hiccups for the side in the first session.
Shorey was particularly stoic in defense and also was able to cash in all loose balls offered by Mumbai's pacers. Even spinner Tanush Kotian's introduction to the attack did not affect Shorey's run-scoring.

Heading into the post-lunch session, Shorey would be hoping to convert his start into a potential big hundred. If Shorey manages to bat deep, then Mumbai would be chasing a far bigger target in the first innings.
Dhruv Shorey's knock frustrates Mumbai, defending champions seek wickets in second session
For Mumbai, the task is simple, they need quick wickets and find a way to bundle Vidarbha out below 300. However, the task won't be easy as Shorey is looking determined, and the batters to follow next are Karun Nair, Yash Rathod, and Akshay Wadkar.
