Virat Kohli's stellar performance in the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final against Australia has propelled him to fourth position in the ICC ODI batting rankings. This rise sees him surpass India captain Rohit Sharma, who is now at the fifth spot. Shubman Gill continues to hold the top position in the rankings.

Kohli scored a valuable 84-run innings in the knockout clash versus Australia. His knock led India to a remarkable win that also confirmed their place in the final of the tournament. The run-machine also smashed a century versus Pakistan recently.

The ICC rankings also saw significant movements elsewhere. Australia stand-in captain Steven Smith's climb to 16th position marks a notable achievement before his ODI retirement. In the final ODI match of his career, Smith scored 73 runs off 96 deliveries.

In the all-rounder rankings, Afghanistan's Azmatullah Omarzai has reached the number one position, replacing his teammate, Mohammad Nabi. Omarzai's outstanding performance in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has been instrumental in this milestone. He bagged a fifer in Afghanistan’s famous win over England and scored a fifty against Australia, displaying his all-round prowess.

India all-rounder Axar Patel has also seen a rise in the rankings. Patel moved up to 13th spot with a career-high 194 rating points in the all-rounder rankings.

In the bowling rankings, New Zealand's Matt Henry has climbed to third position, while Mohammad Shami's consistent performance has earned him a move to 11th. Marco Jansen secured 18th spot, while Jofra Archer rose 13 places to 19th position.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma to be seen in action in Champions Trophy 2025 final 

Kohli and Rohit will take the field in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025. After India beat Australia, New Zealand outclassed South Africa in semi-final 2, booking the finale date with the Men in Blue.

In the last match played between the two teams, India defeated New Zealand by 44 runs, all thanks to Varun Chakaravarthy’s five-for.
