Ravi Ashwin recently emphasized the balance between bat and ball in the current IPL 2025, discussing the impact of bowlers and how flat pitches are affecting their performance.

In a video on his YouTube channel, Ashwin highlighted the high-scoring nature of matches in this tournament, noting that this format does not provide opportunities for bowlers to evolve and improve. He stated that for bowlers to succeed, their best option may be to bowl full tosses, adding that bowling has become increasingly challenging.

“People say bowlers are becoming defensive, and I can understand that argument. However, in many situations, bowling has become nearly impossible. On certain grounds, it’s difficult to keep the stumps in play. You mentioned full tosses, but (Yuzvendra) Chahal bowled full tosses to Sai Sudharsan and only conceded singles,” he explained during the discussion.

In a conversation with cricket analyst Prassana Agoram, Ashwin responded to remarks about bowlers becoming defensive, suggesting that they may soon need to work with psychologists due to the pressure they face from being hit around the park.

“I think bowlers are indeed becoming defensive, and I genuinely believe they might need personal psychologists to assist them,” he said.

In the ongoing IPL 2025, only two matches have resulted in scores of less than 200 runs KKR vs RR and CSK vs MI, which demonstrated a more balanced performance between bat and ball. Meanwhile, Ravi Ashwin’s return to his home was successful, as he recorded match figures of 1-31 in the first match of the IPL 2025 against the Mumbai Indians.

The Chennai Super Kings will be facing the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk on 28/03/2025 (Friday). Stay tuned for more updates on this match.
