The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to announce the central contracts by the end of the week. Players like Shreyas Iyer and Abhishek Sharma are reported to receive their contracts as part of this announcement.

Strong sources within the BCCI suggest that the “big three”—Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah—will be retained in the A+ contract category for this year. This list may be modified after India’s tour of England. According to a source,

“After the England tour, a new contract will be formalized, taking into account the recent performances of the players.”
It’s likely that the core of the list will remain the same, but a few new players may be added at a later date. The source also mentioned that the coach and selectors have shared their opinions, and a final decision will be made soon.

Rohit Sharma Sets His Sights on England Tour

Rohit Sharma is set to lead India in the upcoming tour of England. Speaking on the Beyond2 Cricket Podcast, Indian captain Rohit emphasized the importance of players being fit for this significant series, urging them to give their all in the test matches. He noted the challenges posed by the IPL, particularly the need to maintain performance levels while managing a grueling schedule, where players travel frequently and play numerous matches.

“We need some of these guys to be 100 percent fit. We just have to ensure they come out of the IPL in good shape. This is the most challenging part—I know it's just four overs, but you play today, travel tomorrow, and play again. That’s the tough part, especially with all the traveling across the country,” Rohit said.
