England Skittled Out For Just 90
England used seven bowlers with five of them getting a wicket each. However, all of them were expensive with the ball. Pacers Freya Kemp and Lauren Filler gave more than 10 runs in an over.
When it came to defending the total, Australia were professional throughout their approach. They used six bowlers all of who picked up wickets as well. Pacer Darcioe Brown picked up two and spinner Georgia Wareham picked up three as England were bowled out for just 90.
England skipper Heather Knight played a lone hand scoring 40 off 38 balls. None of the other England batters could respond with anything substantial. Nine of the 11 batters in the side registered single-digit scores in what was a disappointing batting performance from the visitors.
"They played well. Was an outstanding innings from Moons. Pitch was pretty decent, albeit kept a little low. Obviously it's difficult to catch up when you lose all those wickets. They were smart with how they bowled, all those slower balls. Got to see it as a one-off Test and try to win. They've just won the key moments. Lot of learning to do. Obviously gutted. Need to learn a lot from this Australian team" said the England skipper.
Meanwhile, Tahila McGrath who led the side in this T20I series lauded the performance of her players in this series win. She also said that she is looking forward to the Test match.
"Really enjoyed that one. Great to get a big crowd, full voice, love their support. That was a tricky wicket. We weren't expecting something like that. Moons was batting on a different wicket to everyone else. Completely new challenge. Pink ball, get the whites on, really looking forward to that" McGrath said.
It was a humbling defeat for England in the Women's Ashes series white-ball games in the end. The two teams played a one-off Ashes Test at the MCG from January 30-February 2 next.
